Understanding Inboxes
Inboxes are a powerful feature that allow businesses to manage their phone numbers and employees efficiently. They provide flexibility and control over how communication is handled within your organization.
What is an Inbox?
An inbox is a collection of business phone numbers and employees. It serves as a central hub for managing communication. Here's how it works:
- Phone Numbers: You can assign as many phone numbers as you want to an inbox. Among these, one can be selected as the primary inbox phone number.
- Employees: Employees can choose which inbox is their default inbox. This default inbox determines the phone number used for outbound calls and messages. Employees can always change which number to send/call from before making the call or sending the message.
How Inboxes Work
Example Use Case
Imagine a business with two employees: a customer support representative and a warehouse worker.
- The customer support representative has a "Support" inbox with multiple phone numbers listed on platforms like Yelp, Google My Business, etc. They can mark one of these numbers as the primary line, and the "Support" inbox becomes their default inbox.
- The warehouse worker has an inbox with phone numbers for various vendors. They can also configure their inbox similarly.
This separation ensures smooth communication management and allows each employee to focus on their specific responsibilities.
Key Features
- Shared Visibility: All users tied to an inbox can see the calls and messages within that inbox, regardless of which phone number inside the inbox was used.
- Unlimited Inboxes: There is no limit to the number of inboxes you can create or the number of inboxes an employee can be added to.
- Filtering: You can filter inboxes across all pages for easy navigation.
- Custom Configurations:
- Each user can configure their own default inbox.
- Each inbox has its own settings for scheduling, call routing, included phone numbers, and more. Learn more about configuration here.
